Who are we?
Love hairdressing is a subscription based online learning resource aimed at individuals in the hairdressing industry.
What do we do?
The service provides step by step video demonstrations of all aspects of hairdressing from basics to advanced creative work. There are also advanced lectures for qualified stylists, advice and articles on salon management and tools for help new stylist with the transition from apprentice to stylist.
Why does it matter?
Government changes to the apprenticeships scheme will mean that funding per trainee may be significantly reduced. In order to receive quality training, employers will need to provide funding themselves and trainees will need to work harder to progress their own abilities.
Our online solution will work as a supplement to the apprenticeship programme and allows trainees to take personal development into their own hands.
Quality; Affordable; Well communicated; Inspiring; Simplicity.
LoveHaidressing.co.uk offers an affordable supplement to deepen students understanding of hairdressing and inspire thoughtful, creative work.
Our work will always remain thoroughly researched and up to date according to current NVQ guidelines. Our pricing will reflect the earnings of an apprentice hairdresser and as much as possible will be affordable/accessible to all. Our material will be presented in a manner that appeals to hairdressers, this will mean visual and where possible, interactive learning. It is easy to become ‘stale' and lose focus in the hairdressing industry and so lovehairdressing.co.uk seeks to inspire and motivate hairdressers to stay ‘fresh'. Working long hours, time is valuable to hairdressers. For this reason, our website is clear, concise and easy to navigate so that no time is wasted with loading times or customer confusion.
Customers will subscribe to pay a monthly fee in order to gain access to an archive of video demonstrations, step by step guides and theory.
The target market(s) for Love Hairdressing are three-fold: The first and main market is the owner(s) of hairdressing salons. The second is further education colleges and universities that offer qualifications in hairdressing, and the third involves the hairdressers/trainees themselves choosing to subscribe of their own accord.
Courses in hairdressing are expensive and so our service provides a cheaper alternative to this which can be accessed anytime anywhere via the internet. Things that students don't necessarily learn during their apprenticeship training (things you pick up along the way as you become qualified hairdresser) are taught through our step by step videos. Core reasons for purchase are as follows:
Christopher Halls - Director
Having dropped out of Nottingham Trent University, Christopher was on a steep learning curve. Ever the entrepreneur, he started a mobile bar business but soon struggled to make ends meet. In the summer of 2006, he began his career as a hairdresser. Christopher excelled from day one, completing his NVQ level 2 in 18 months and level 3 in 10 months. After a year of being a qualified stylist, Christopher was appointed as salon manager. Christopher was invited to join the L'Oreal evolution team for two years and it was in this second year that the development of Love Hairdressing began. Inspired by sessions with the L'Oreal ID Artists as an evolution team member, Christopher wanted to deliver this style of training and inspiration to the rest of the hairdressing industry.
Christopher currently works 5 days a week in the salon whilst studying to complete his original business management degree, and nurturing the Love Hairdressing website. Christopher's drive to succeed is ever present and is often what allows him to continue with such a busy schedule.
How much is a membership to the site?
Memberships are charged at a monthly rate of £8.99 or annually at £98.89. Once a membership has been purchased by a salon, it can be shared with up to 20 members of staff.
What makes it different?
Love Hairdressing offers commercial techniques that apprentices and stylists can take into the salon and use in their day to day work. This is a key point because there must always be a return for managers on any investment in training and education.
Do you still need to go to college?
Yes. Love Hairdressing does not yet provide any recognised qualification and is to be used as a teaching resource to deepen your student's knowledge.
Can't I just look on youtube?
Whilst youtube is an excellent resource and social platform, often the quality and validity of techniques and comments made are questionable. There are no limits to who can post a video on youtube and so there really are some terrible mistakes out there. Love Hairdressing provides you with the confidence that you will get fresh, tried and tested methods that you can use day in day out within your salon environment.
Why do you have to pay every month?
Each month a minimum of four videos will be added with new step by step tutorials as well as continued access to older videos.
Ky Wilson (Daniel Gray Hair salon) - "the reason why I have been so supportive of Love Hairdressing is because I think it's going to be really important for the development of our industry. I think that love hairdressing is going to be the next big thing for training and development in the hairdressing world. The more people that join, the bigger and better it's going to be"
